The University of Miami’s Department of Public Health Sciences, established in 1970, is committed to the public’s health. We are recruiting faculty and expanding our educational programs; developing and applying cutting-edge research to creating healthy communities; and training tomorrow’s public health leaders, giving them the tools to transform the public’s health.
Through innovative public health research, the faculty investigates determinants of different disease, as well as effective prevention and intervention strategies that will ultimately advance population health through training and dissemination of ground breaking discoveries.
We bring about sustainable, positive changes in health by providing an outstanding program of research, teaching and service – to educate the next generation of public health leaders who endeavor to discover, test and disseminate solutions to health threats and problems; and translate research into effective practices and sound policies.
Our vision is a world with healthy people living in healthy communities.
- to educate students in public health competencies with an accredited curriculum.
- to provide students with community-oriented education and practice opportunities.
- to generate public health knowledge emphasizing urban, community-engaged and translational research.
- to participate in public health advocacy, policy, and practice at a local, national, and global level.
